Farm Workers play a critical role in the agricultural sector by helping with the day-to-day tasks involved in crop production and livestock care. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, are physically fit, and are willing to work in various weather conditions. Whether it’s planting, cultivating, or harvesting crops, farm workers are essential to ensuring food gets from the field to our tables.
As a Farm Worker, your responsibilities will vary depending on the season and type of farm. You may be tasked with planting seeds, irrigating fields, fertilizing soil, and harvesting fruits or vegetables. In livestock settings, you might help feed animals, clean pens, and assist with general animal care. You must follow health and safety regulations, operate basic farm equipment, and report any issues to supervisors.
Farm Workers are often required to live on or near the farm, especially during peak seasons, and may work long hours including weekends and holidays. Attention to detail, stamina, and the ability to follow instructions are essential for success in this role.
- Planting, watering, and harvesting crops
- Operating basic machinery such as tractors and harvesters
- Weeding and fertilizing fields
- Feeding and caring for animals (if applicable)
- Maintaining farm facilities and equipment
- Sorting and packaging produce for shipment
- Following biosecurity and safety regulations
- No formal education required; on-the-job training provided
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather
- Basic understanding of safety procedures
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Previous farm experience is an asset but not required
- Average hourly wage: $15 to $18 CAD
- Overtime pay may apply during peak seasons
- Accommodation may be provided by the employer
- Two years’ Work Permit and apply for Immigrationunder the Agri Pilot Program OR PNP after 1 year of Canadian experience.
