Job Description
As a Security Officer or Guard, you will be responsible for monitoring and securing buildings, premises, or public events. Your duties include patrolling assigned areas, checking identification, responding to alarms, and deterring potential security breaches. You may also be tasked with managing access points, conducting security screenings, and providing assistance during emergencies. Your role is essential in preventing theft, vandalism, and other unlawful activities while ensuring the safety of employees, visitors, and customers.
Responsibilities
- Patrol premises to monitor for suspicious activity or security risks
- Check and control access points to ensure authorized personnel only
- Respond to alarms and incidents, including theft or medical emergencies
- Report security issues or breaches to law enforcement or management
- Assist in emergency evacuation or fire drills
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; security training/certifications
- Strong physical stamina and ability to stand or patrol for extended periods
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail
- Good communication and conflict-resolution skills
Wages
Average hourly wage: $18 to $30 NZD
Annual salary: $38,000 to $60,000 NZD
