Highlights: Australia has announced a 4.6% increase in income threshold for skilled visas that will be applicable from July 1,3025.
- Australia is going to raise the skilled visa income threshold by 4.6% from July 1, 2025.
- This new threshold will affect three visa streams that are listed below;
- Core Skills Income Threshold or CSIT
- Specialist Skills Income Threshold or SSIT
- Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold or TSMIT
- However, this new policy will not be implemented on Applications that are submitted before July 1, 2025.
- To apply for these three visa streams after 1st July 2025, you must meet the new threshold rules to avoid delays or rejections.

Australia Annual Indexation of Skilled Visa Income
Australia’s government has announced a 4.6% increase in the income requirements for skilled visas. From now on, these thresholds will be based on the yearly average wages of Australian workers (AWOTE) and will be updated every year. This change ensures that skilled migrants earn fair wages in line with local workers and prevents employers from underpaying them through the migration program.
Australia Income Threshold for Skilled Professionals
Starting July 1, 2025, Australia will increase the minimum income requirements for skilled professionals by 4.6%. This update is in line with the average wage growth in the country and helps ensure skilled migrants are paid fairly, just like Australian workers. The new income thresholds will apply to three visa streams:
Core Skills Income Threshold
The income requirement will increase from AUD 73,150 to AUD 76,515. This applies to the Skills in Demand visa, such as subclass 482 and Employer Nomination Scheme, subclass 186 under the Core Skills stream.
Specialist Skills Income Threshold
The income threshold will go up from AUD 135,000 to AUD 141,210. It will be applicable to the Skills in Demand visa under the Specialist Skills stream.
Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold
It will increase from AUD 73,150 to AUD 76,515 and affect the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa, subclass 494, and the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme, subclass 187.
Important Note
- The new income rules apply only to applications submitted on or after July 1, 2025.
- Existing visa holders and applications submitted before that date will not be affected.
