Job Description
Chefs and Cooks are responsible for preparing and presenting food in restaurants, hotels, catering services, and other food establishments. They ensure high-quality meals are served in a timely and hygienic manner.
Job Brief
As a Chef or Cook, your main duty will be to plan menus, prepare meals, and manage kitchen operations. Depending on the role, you may specialize in certain cuisines or techniques. You’ll maintain cleanliness, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking meals according to recipes and quality standards
- Ensuring food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene in the kitchen
- Managing inventory and ordering supplies as needed
- Training and supervising kitchen staff
- Planning menus and adapting recipes based on customer preferences
Requirements
- Culinary training or equivalent kitchen experience
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- Creativity and attention to detail
Wages
Average hourly wage: $16 to $30 AUD
Benefits may include meals, tips, overtime, and shift premiums
