General Labourer
A General Labourer provides essential support across various industries including construction, manufacturing, warehousing, and agriculture. This is an entry-level position ideal for individuals who are physically fit, dependable, and eager to learn a variety of hands-on tasks. General labourers are the backbone of many operations, helping to ensure efficiency, cleanliness, and safety on the job site.
As a General Labourer, your tasks may change daily depending on the employer’s needs. You’ll assist skilled workers, transport materials, operate basic tools and machinery, and help maintain a clean and organized work environment. You may also be responsible for loading and unloading materials, assembling products, or preparing job sites for more specialized work.
This role requires someone who is comfortable doing physical work for extended periods and can adapt to fast-paced or changing environments. The ability to follow instructions closely, observe safety protocols, and work both independently and as part of a team is crucial. Some employers may offer long-term roles, while others provide short-term or seasonal opportunities.
- Assisting skilled tradespeople and machine operators
- Loading, unloading, and transporting materials and supplies
- Cleaning and preparing job sites or work areas
- Assembling and disassembling temporary structures or equipment
- Using hand tools and basic machinery
- Following safety procedures to ensure a secure workplace
- Performing quality checks and reporting issues to supervisors
- No formal education required; high school diploma is an asset
- Physically fit and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks in various environments
- Willingness to work in construction, warehouse, or outdoor settings
- Basic understanding of workplace safety
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player
- Previous experience is an advantage but not mandatory
- Average hourly wage: $16 to $20 CAD
- Overtime, weekend, and holiday shifts may offer higher pay
